What Is the Seahorse Candle Mold?
The Seahorse Candle Mold from THE CRAFT STATION MOLDS is a food-grade platinum silicone mould in a detailed 3D seahorse shape — designed for candle making, epoxy resin figurine casting, plaster art, and cold-process soap. Its intricate spine and fin detail capture the natural elegance of a seahorse in every cast, making it ideal for ocean-themed home décor, coastal gifting, and sea-inspired resin art collections.
Soy wax seahorse candles in soft aqua, coral, or white are perennial bestsellers at craft markets. Galaxy-coloured epoxy resin seahorse figurines glow on desk shelves. And soap seahorses in shea-butter white with sea salt fragrance sell out at Etsy shops and pop-up stalls across India. This mold gives you a premium, 100+-use platinum silicone tool to build a profitable ocean-themed craft product line.
Compatible Materials
- Epoxy Resin 3:1 (Part A : Part B by volume) — cure 24–48 hours; pour in two layers to avoid exotherm in the deep 3D body; mix ocean blues, aqua, coral, and translucent white for a sea glass effect
- Soy Wax — pour at 50–55°C; add fragrance (ocean breeze, sea salt, or jasmine) at 6–10% of wax weight; insert wick before pour if making a seahorse candle
- Paraffin Wax — pour at 60–65°C; produces a smooth, photogenic finish for product listings
- Cold-Process Soap — no mold release required; demold at 24–48 hours; allow 4–6 week cure period
- Plaster of Paris & Concrete — vibrate to remove air bubbles; release cleanly when set; paint with chalk or acrylic for coastal shelf décor

How to Make a Seahorse Resin Figurine – Step-by-Step
- Prepare the mold — Place on a flat, level surface. No mold release spray needed for platinum silicone.
- Mix resin — Combine epoxy at 3:1 ratio (Part A : Part B by volume). Stir slowly 3–4 minutes. Divide into cups and tint with ocean blue, translucent aqua, and white pigment. Add a pinch of holographic glitter or crushed shell foil for a sea glass shimmer.
- Pour base layer — Fill the mold halfway with your colour blend. Allow 12–18 hours to firm up.
- Pour top layer — Add complementary colour or a gradient transition, then cure 24–48 hours total.
- Demold — Gently flex the silicone mold on all sides. The seahorse releases cleanly with crisp fin and spine detail intact.
- Finish — Sand any rough spots with 800-grit wet sandpaper. Buff to a glass-like shine with resin polish for a gallery-quality piece.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I pour epoxy in one shot or two layers for this mold?
Two layers. The seahorse body is a deep, narrow 3D shape. A single large epoxy pour generates enough heat (exotherm) to crack the piece from the inside. Fill halfway first, allow 12–18 hours to firm, then pour the second layer and cure 24–48 hours total. The result is a clearer, defect-free figurine.
What colours look best for a seahorse resin piece?
Ocean blue + translucent aqua is the most popular combination. Coral pink + white produces a feminine, beach aesthetic. Deep navy + holographic glitter creates a night-sea effect. For a realistic look, use translucent resin with crushed pearl powder and a hint of green or amber.
Can I embed a wick for a seahorse candle?
Yes. Thread a pre-waxed wick through the seahorse mold's base before pouring wax. Hold the wick centred with a wick holder resting across the mold opening. After the wax cools and you demold, trim the wick to 6–8mm. The finished seahorse is then a decorative figure candle — note that narrow figure candles burn from the top down; trim the wick regularly for a safe burn.
How do I clean the mold between uses?
Wash with warm water and mild soap after each use. Avoid abrasive scrubbers or solvents. For resin residue, allow the mold to flex fully and peel off any cured resin film. Store flat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Can I pair this with the Shell Candle Mold for a beach collection?
Yes — the Seahorse Candle Mold pairs perfectly with the Silicone Resin Shell Candle Mold to build a beach-themed craft collection: seahorse + shell resin figurines, wax candle sets, or soap gift boxes. Contact us on WhatsApp for bundle pricing.
