What Is the Candle Wick Sticker?

The Candle Wick Sticker from THE CRAFT STATION MOLDS is a double-sided adhesive tab that holds your cotton wick firmly to the base of any candle container — glass jars, metal tins, ceramic pots, and silicone candle mold bases — before you pour your melted wax. It's the smallest tool in a candle maker's kit and one of the most important: a wick that drifts off-centre during the pour means an uneven burn, tunnelling, and wasted wax. The Wick Sticker eliminates that problem entirely.

At ₹80 per pack, the Candle Wick Sticker is one of the best-value craft tools in candle making India. We're in stock and dispatching daily from Jammu. Trusted by 5,000+ artists and small-batch candle makers across India, TCS Molds has become the go-to source for handmade candles supplies at fair prices.

Compatible With All Candle Making Wax Types

The Candle Wick Sticker is designed to work with every surface and every wax type you'll encounter in candle making India:

Soy wax — the adhesive holds the wick securely on glass and ceramic surfaces through the full pour temperature range (55–65°C). Paraffin wax — ideal for container and pillar-style candles; the sticker prevents the wick from floating as hot paraffin is poured at 65–75°C. Beeswax — heavier and more viscous when melted; the Wick Sticker keeps the wick centred even as beeswax is poured slowly. Gel wax — crystal-clear embed candles require the wick to be completely immobile during the pour; the double-sided adhesive provides that grip. Wax melts — for wicked wax melt tarts poured into cavities, the sticker anchors the wick before filling. Compatible with all fragrance oil blends and any fragrance load — the adhesive is not affected during the pour process.

How to Use Candle Wick Stickers

Using the Candle Wick Sticker is easy enough for a first-time candle maker and fast enough for a production line:

Step 1 — Prepare the container: Clean and thoroughly dry the inside base of your candle container or the base of your candle mold. Any moisture or grease will reduce adhesion. For silicone molds, apply a light mist of mold release spray to the mold walls first, then place the sticker cleanly on the dry base cavity centre.

Step 2 — Attach the wick: Peel one side of the Candle Wick Sticker and press it firmly onto the metal sustainer disc at the base of your cotton wick. Hold for 2–3 seconds until the bond sets.

Step 3 — Stick to the container: Peel the remaining protective film and press the wick-and-sticker assembly firmly onto the centre of the container base. Hold for 3–5 seconds. The wick should now stand upright and perfectly centred.

Step 4 — Centre the top: Use a wick bar or your Candle Needle across the top rim to keep the wick taut and vertical during the pour. This is wick centering at both ends — the sticker handles the bottom, the bar handles the top.

Step 5 — Pour at correct temperature: Pour your melted wax slowly at the correct pour temperature — 55–65°C for soy wax, 65–75°C for paraffin wax. The Wick Sticker holds firm throughout.

Step 6 — Allow to cure: Soy wax candles need 24–48 hours curing time for optimal fragrance throw. Paraffin wax candles cure faster but benefit from resting overnight before the first burn. Avoid touching or moving the candle during this stage.

Step 7 — Trim and finish: Before the first burn, trim the wick to 5–6 mm. The sticker remains at the base of the finished candle — it's designed to stay in place permanently, hidden inside the cured wax and held by the sustainer.

Candle Making Projects That Use Wick Stickers

The Candle Wick Sticker is a foundational tool for virtually every handmade candles project in candle making India:

Soy wax container candles in glass jars — the classic beginner project; the Wick Sticker is what makes the wick stay put as you pour and as the wax contracts during cooling. Festival and gifting candles — handmade Diwali, Raksha Bandhan, and wedding candles require a professional finish; a centred wick is what distinguishes a sellable product from a practice pour. High fragrance-load soy candles — candles with 8–10% fragrance load flow thinner and make it easier for wicks to drift; the Wick Sticker prevents this. Layered candles — pour the first colour layer, let it partially set, then pour the second; the Wick Sticker holds through every temperature shift. Tin container candles — metal conducts heat and can cause wick movement if it's not firmly anchored; the sticker provides that anchor. Workshop and classroom candle making — when running a candle making class, Wick Stickers let students anchor their wick and pour within minutes of setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What does a candle wick sticker do?
A: A candle wick sticker is a small double-sided adhesive tab used to secure the metal sustainer at the base of a cotton wick to the bottom of a candle container or mold before pouring melted wax. It keeps the wick centred and stationary throughout the pour and the full curing time.

Q: Can I use wick stickers with soy wax?
A: Yes — wick stickers are compatible with all wax types including soy wax, paraffin wax, beeswax, and gel wax. They're heat-resistant within normal candle-making pour temperature ranges.

Q: Do wick stickers work on metal candle tins?
A: Yes — the adhesive bonds well to clean, dry metal, glass, and ceramic surfaces. Make sure the tin is grease-free before applying the sticker for maximum hold throughout the pour.

Q: What is the correct pour temperature for soy wax?
A: Pour soy wax at 55–65°C. Pouring too hot increases the risk of sinkholes and fragrance separation; too cool and the wax may not bond cleanly to the container. The Wick Sticker holds the wick secure at any temperature within this range.

Q: How much fragrance oil can soy wax hold?
A: Soy wax holds a typical fragrance load of 6–10% by weight. Add fragrance oil at around 55°C to preserve scent molecules and maximise throw in the finished candle.

Q: Can I use wick stickers in silicone candle molds?
A: Yes — apply the sticker to the dry base of the silicone mold cavity (spray mold release spray on the walls first, keeping the sticker site clean and dry). The sticker holds the wick in place during the pour and stays embedded in the finished candle base after demolding.
