What Is the Shell Charm?

The Shell Charm is a beautiful shell-shaped decorative charm designed for resin jewellery making, resin art embedding, and handmade accessories. With its detailed shell form and elegant coastal aesthetic, this charm is a versatile addition to pendants, earrings, keychains, resin coasters, and festive gifting projects.

Shell charms bring a natural, ocean-inspired look to resin pieces — perfect for boho jewellery, bridal accessories, and summer-themed craft collections. Whether you embed the charm inside a clear epoxy pour, suspend it in UV resin, or attach it as a pendant finding, the shell form adds an artisanal detail that elevates the finished piece.

Stocked by THE CRAFT STATION MOLDS — Jammu's first dedicated resin art supply store — and trusted by 5,000+ artists across India, the Shell Charm is your go-to coastal embellishment for resin jewellery and handmade accessories. Beginner-friendly to use and compatible with all major resin types, it is an easy upgrade for any resin art project.

How to Use the Shell Charm in Resin Art

There are two main ways to use Shell Charms in your resin work — as embedded inclusions inside a pour, or as surface pendant findings attached after curing:

Method 1 — Embedding Inside Resin (Partial-Gel Technique)

  1. Prepare your resin pour: Mix your epoxy resin at a 3:1 ratio (Part A:Part B by volume) and pour a 2–3mm base layer into your silicone mold — a coaster mold, tray mold, or pendant mold all work well.
  2. Wait for partial gel: Allow the base layer to sit for 20–40 minutes until it is thick and gelled but not fully set. This is the partial-gel stage — the resin is viscous enough to hold your charm in position without it sinking.
  3. Place the charm: Using fine-tipped tweezers, carefully position the Shell Charm face-up on the partially gelled surface. Press gently so it sits level and does not tilt.
  4. Pour the encapsulation layer: Once the charm is positioned, pour a thin covering layer of clear resin over the top to fully encapsulate the charm. This creates a smooth, glossy surface with the shell suspended inside.
  5. Cure fully: Cover loosely and allow to cure for 24–48 hours. Demold once fully hardened for a mirror-finish piece with the Shell Charm beautifully encased.

Method 2 — Surface Pendant Use

If the charm has a jumpring loop or a drilled hole, it can be used as a pendant or accent piece without embedding. Attach it directly to a necklace chain, earring hook, or keychain ring using a jumpring. This method requires no resin at all — perfect for quick, lightweight jewellery projects.

Project Ideas and Selling Potential

Shell Charms open up a wide range of product opportunities for resin artists and jewellery makers:

  • Resin pendant necklaces: Embed a Shell Charm in a clear or ocean-blue tinted resin pendant blank and sell as a boho coastal necklace at ₹250–500 per piece.
  • Drop earrings: Use a shell charm with an earring hook to create lightweight, statement drop earrings — perfect for summer markets and online selling at ₹150–350 per pair.
  • Resin coasters: Embed 3–5 shell charms in a clear or blue tinted epoxy resin coaster for a coastal-themed home décor set. Sell sets of 4 at ₹800–1,500.
  • Keychains: Combine a Shell Charm with a keychain ring and clear resin for a compact, beachy keychain — a high-turnover craft fair item at ₹100–200 each.
  • Wedding and festive accessories: Shell charms add a nautical or boho accent to bridesmaid gift boxes, wedding favours, and festival-themed resin jewellery collections.
  • Resin trays and organiser inlays: Scatter shell charms across the base of a rectangular resin tray before pouring to create a coastal-themed jewellery organiser or catchall tray.

Frequently Asked Questions

What material is the Shell Charm made from?

Please refer to the product images for a clear view of the charm. For specific material details (metal alloy, acrylic, or resin), contact us on WhatsApp and we will confirm the exact material for the current batch before your order.

Will the Shell Charm tarnish or discolour inside resin?

Most metal-toned charms are stable inside cured epoxy resin when fully encapsulated. If you are concerned about long-term discolouration, seal the charm with a thin coat of clear nail polish and allow it to dry fully before embedding. This creates a barrier between the metal surface and the resin chemistry.

How do I prevent the Shell Charm from sinking to the bottom of my pour?

Use the partial-gel technique: pour a 2–3mm base layer, wait 20–40 minutes until the resin is thick and gelled, then place the charm using tweezers. The gelled resin holds it in position. Then pour a thin encapsulation layer over the top. This is the most reliable method for embedding charms at a controlled depth.

Can I use this charm with UV resin?

Yes. Place the Shell Charm on a base layer of UV resin, cure under a 36W+ UV lamp for 2–5 minutes, then apply a final clear topcoat and cure again. UV resin works best in layers up to 3–4mm thick, so build up in stages for deeper embedding.

Can I use the Shell Charm in jewellery without resin?

Yes — if the charm has a loop or hole, attach a jumpring and connect it directly to an earring hook, necklace chain, or keychain ring for instant, no-resin jewellery. This is a quick option for lightweight pieces and craft fair production runs.

Can I order Shell Charms in bulk?

Yes. TCS Molds offers bulk pricing for studios, jewellery makers, and wholesale buyers. Contact us on WhatsApp at +91 97971 37137 for volume pricing on Shell Charms and other jewellery findings.
