Bring the Garden Indoors — A Botanical Sphere Mold for Every Medium
The Flower Leaf Ball Silicone Mold from THE CRAFT STATION MOLDS captures the quiet beauty of a forest clearing in every cast. Unlike floral sphere molds that repeat a single motif, this design weaves open blossoms and unfurling leaves across the entire surface — creating a textured, nature-inspired sphere that reads differently from every angle. Whether you fill it with translucent epoxy resin, soy wax, cold-process soap, or plaster, the botanical relief emerges with crisp botanical clarity thanks to the food-grade platinum silicone construction.
At THE CRAFT STATION MOLDS — Jammu's first dedicated resin art supply store, trusted by 5,000+ artists across India — we stock this mold for artists who want their work to carry the effortless elegance of nature rather than the rigidity of geometry.
What Is the Flower Leaf Ball Silicone Mold?
This is a single-cavity spherical silicone mold whose entire outer surface is embossed with an alternating pattern of stylised petalled flowers and multi-lobed leaves. The two-piece or flexible single-piece construction (depending on variant) allows you to demold a perfectly round sphere without seam distortion. The design produces a 360-degree botanical texture — ideal for objects meant to be displayed in the round, such as table centrepieces, hanging ornaments, and floating candles.
This mold suits beginners and professional crafters alike. Its flexible food-grade platinum silicone walls mean resin, wax, and soap all release cleanly after curing, with no tearing or residue buildup through repeated use.
Compatible Materials
The Flower Leaf Ball Mold works seamlessly with the following casting materials — each yielding a distinct aesthetic from the same botanical surface:
- Epoxy resin (3:1 ratio Part A to Part B by volume) — produces glossy, glass-like spheres; ideal for paperweights, decorative orbs, and embed art
- UV resin — fast cure (minutes per thin layer under a UV lamp); excellent for miniature botanical spheres and jewellery pendants
- Soy wax — pour at 50–55 °C for clean botanical detail; makes elegant wax melt spheres and floating candles
- Paraffin wax — pour at 60–65 °C; ideal for pillar-style decorative candles with pronounced texture
- Cold-process or melt-and-pour soap — platinum silicone needs no mold release spray; demold after 24–48 hours and cure soap for 4–6 weeks
- Plaster of Paris — great for paint-your-own gifting kits and garden decorations
- Concrete — lightweight mixes work well for indoor botanical décor spheres
How to Use This Mold
For epoxy resin: mix your resin at a 3:1 ratio (Part A:Part B by volume), add pigment or inclusions, and pour slowly to avoid trapping air. Use a heat gun on low held 15–20 cm away to pop surface bubbles. For larger sphere diameters, pour in two stages — fill halfway, allow to gel for 4–6 hours, add botanicals or a second colour layer, then complete the pour. This two-stage technique prevents exothermic heat buildup that can cause yellowing or cracking in a single large pour. Allow 24–48 hours full cure time before demolding.
For soy wax candles or wax melts: melt your soy wax, add fragrance oil at 6–10% by weight once the wax cools to approximately 60 °C, then pour at 50–55 °C. Allow to cool undisturbed for 4–6 hours. The flexible silicone peels away cleanly for a smooth botanical sphere.
To clean: rinse the mold with warm water immediately after demolding. For cured resin residue, soak in isopropyl alcohol for 5 minutes, then wipe clean with a soft cloth. Avoid sharp implements that could nick the delicate leaf-edge relief.
Project Ideas
Forest-floor resin sphere: Pour translucent epoxy resin tinted in deep moss green and amber. Press dried fern fronds, miniature pressed flowers, or preserved leaves into the first half-pour layer before completing the sphere. The botanical mold surface adds a second tier of texture over the embedded botanicals — a layered, woodland terrarium effect.
Ombre nature gradient: Use alcohol ink or resin pigment in a gradient from forest green at the base to soft lilac or pale gold at the crown. The alternating flower-and-leaf relief catches the colour shift differently on each element, creating a painterly, living-garden look.
Botanical wax melt sphere: Fill with soy wax scented with eucalyptus, green tea, or jasmine fragrance oil. Place in a wax melt warmer — as it melts, the sphere slowly releases fragrance while sitting beautifully as a decorative orb on the dish.
Floating garden candle: Pour unscented paraffin or soy wax, leave a wick centred using a wick centering tool, and float in a glass bowl of water with real flower petals for a table centrepiece.
Gifting hamper anchor: Cast a set of three botanical spheres in coordinated colours — cream, sage, and dusty rose — and bundle as an eco-gifting hamper with dried lavender and a kraft paper ribbon. Perfect for housewarming, Mother's Day, or Diwali gifting.
Plaster botanical decor: Pour plaster of Paris, unmold, and paint with chalk paint and a dry-brush metallic highlight on the raised flower-and-leaf surface. A striking shelf accent that costs a fraction of store-bought botanical décor.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this mold safe for soap making?
Yes — platinum silicone is fully saponification-safe. No mold release spray is needed; the soap releases naturally after 24–48 hours in the mold. Allow the soap to cure for 4–6 weeks after demolding before use.
Can I embed dried flowers or botanicals inside the resin sphere?
Absolutely. Use the two-stage pour technique: fill halfway, allow to gel for 4–6 hours, place your botanical inclusions on the gel surface, then complete the pour. Only use completely dry botanicals — fresh plant material contains moisture that will cloud or discolour epoxy resin.
How is this different from the Rose Ball Mold?
The Rose Ball Mold features an all-over rose-petal surface — a romantic, single-motif design ideal for Valentine's gifting and luxury décor. The Flower Leaf Ball Mold alternates open blossoms with multi-lobed leaves, creating a more naturalistic, garden-inspired texture suitable for a wider range of themes — forest, botanical, eco-gifting, and everyday nature décor.
Do I need a mold release spray for resin?
It is not essential — platinum silicone has inherent non-stick properties — but a light coat of mold release spray on the interior before pouring will make demolding even easier, especially for deeply detailed textures like this botanical surface.
What fragrance works best for a botanical wax melt sphere?
We recommend eucalyptus, green tea, jasmine, or fresh linen fragrance oils — scents that complement the natural botanical surface motif. Add fragrance oil at 6–10% by weight of wax for a strong, lasting scent throw.
Can I use this mold with concrete?
Yes. Use a lightweight crafting concrete mix and pour slowly to fill all the botanical detail. Demold after 24 hours and allow to air-dry for 48 hours before painting or sealing.
