What Are Dia Katories?

Dia Katories are small diamond-shaped craft bowls designed for resin artists, candle makers, soap makers, and handmade décor creators. The compact size and geometric shape make them ideal for dividing and organising pigments, measuring fragrance oils, mixing small batches of coloured resin, and sorting craft inclusions before a pour.

Whether you are a beginner setting up your first resin art workspace or a professional running batch production, Dia Katories help you work with more precision and less mess. Keep a set laid out on your silicone mat and pre-measure your pigments, dyes, or fragrance oils before you begin — a small step that makes a big difference to the consistency and quality of your finished pieces.

Stocked in packs of 100 and priced for bulk buying, Dia Katories from THE CRAFT STATION MOLDS are a staple in craft workshops, resin art studios, and candle-making setups across India. They are beginner-friendly, lightweight, and built for the multi-step workflows that resin art and candle making require.

How Resin Artists and Craft Makers Use Dia Katories

Dia Katories are multi-purpose craft organisers that fit into almost every step of your creative process:

  • Resin pigment mixing and colour separation: When creating agate pours, geode art, or marble effects, divide your mixed epoxy resin (at 3:1 Part A:Part B) into individual Dia Katories before tinting. Add a different colour pigment to each bowl and mix independently — this gives you precise, separate colours to pour in sequence without contamination.
  • Fragrance oil measurement for candle making: Measure fragrance oil at the correct load (6–10% by weight relative to wax weight) into a Dia Katori before adding to your wax. Pre-measuring prevents over- or under-scenting your candles.
  • UV resin work: UV resin cures quickly under a 36W+ UV lamp. Use Dia Katories to hold small quantities of UV resin as you work through each colour or pigment layer, keeping your workspace organised and your resin from curing prematurely in the bottle.
  • Inclusion sorting before embedding: Before beginning a resin pour, sort your inclusions — dried flowers, glitter, foil flakes, charms — into Dia Katories. When it is time to place them using the partial-gel technique, everything is within reach and ready to go.
  • Candle dye and soap colourant mixing: Use a katori to dissolve candle liquid dye or soap colourant chips in a small amount of warm wax before adding to the full wax batch. This ensures even colour distribution throughout your candle or soap bar.
  • Workshop supply distribution: For craft workshops with multiple students, Dia Katories are perfect for pre-portioning pigments, glitter, or fragrance oils for each participant's workstation — keeping sessions efficient and tidy.

Step-by-Step: Using Dia Katories for a Resin Agate Pour

  1. Set up your katories: Arrange 4–6 Dia Katories on your silicone mat. Label or colour-code them if working with multiple pigments.
  2. Mix your base resin: Combine Part A and Part B of your epoxy resin at a 3:1 ratio by volume and stir thoroughly for 3–4 minutes.
  3. Divide and tint: Pour the mixed resin equally into each katori. Add a different colour pigment or metallic powder to each — white, grey, navy, gold, or black are classic agate palette choices.
  4. Pour in sequence: Pour each tinted colour into your silicone mold in overlapping bands and puddles. Use a toothpick to swirl and vein the colours into a natural agate pattern.
  5. Clean and reuse: Once cured resin has set in the katori, flex the bowl to pop out the cured disc, then wipe clean with IPA for the next session.

Uses Beyond Resin Art

Dia Katories are useful across a wide range of craft disciplines:

  • Candle making: Pre-measure fragrance oil (6–10% by weight), candle dye, and wax additives before combining with your main wax batch. Ideal for soy wax poured at 50–55°C and paraffin wax at 60–65°C.
  • Cold-process soap making: Measure and hold colourants, botanical powders, and fragrance oils in separate katories before mixing into your soap batter.
  • Jewellery and bead organisation: Sort jump rings, eye pins, earring hooks, and small charms into individual Dia Katories so they are easy to pick up and use without digging through a tray.
  • Nail art and cosmetic DIY: Mix nail powders, mica pigments, or cosmetic glitters into small batches without contaminating your main supply.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Dia Katories made of?

Dia Katories are small craft bowls in a diamond shape. Please refer to the product images or contact us on WhatsApp for details on the exact material (plastic, silicone, or other) as options may vary by batch.

How many katories do I need for a resin pour?

For an agate or geode pour, most artists use 3–6 katories — one per colour. For a marble effect with 2 colours, 2–3 katories are sufficient. Having 6–10 on hand means you are ready for more complex multi-colour pours without running short.

Can I reuse Dia Katories?

Yes. Once cured epoxy resin sets inside a katori, you can pop the disc out by flexing the bowl. Wipe clean with IPA for reuse. UV resin and wax residue can also be peeled or wiped out between uses.

Are Dia Katories suitable for hot wax?

Dia Katories can be used to measure fragrance oils at room temperature before adding to hot wax. Avoid pouring boiling or near-boiling wax directly into a small thin-walled katori — allow wax to cool to pour temperature (50–55°C for soy wax, 60–65°C for paraffin) before using these as measuring/mixing vessels.

How are Dia Katories different from Mini Katories?

Dia Katories have a diamond / geometric shape compared to the round form of Mini Katories. Both serve the same function — pigment mixing, inclusion sorting, and workspace organisation — with the diamond shape adding a neat, structured look to your craft setup.

Can I order Dia Katories in bulk?

Yes — TCS Molds offers bulk pricing for studios, schools, and craft workshops. Contact us on WhatsApp at +91 97971 37137 for bulk rates and wholesale arrangements.

Are they suitable for beginners?

Absolutely. Dia Katories are one of the most beginner-friendly supplies in a resin artist's toolkit — they help you pre-measure, separate, and organise every component before you begin, which leads to cleaner, more controlled pours and better results from your very first project.

Our silicone molds are made from food-grade platinum silicone — non-toxic, BPA-free. We recommend keeping separate molds for food vs resin use.
100+ uses with proper care. Clean with mild soap and warm water after each use. Avoid sharp objects inside the cavity.

How to Use

1
Clean the mold

Wash with mild soap and warm water before first use. Dry completely.

Optional but recommended — thin coat of mold release spray for easy demolding.

3
Mix your resin

Combine resin and hardener in the correct 3:1 ratio. Stir slowly for 3–4 minutes.

4
Pour and cure

Pour slowly to avoid bubbles. Use a heat gun to pop surface bubbles. Let cure 24–48 hrs.
