What Is the Big Flower Tealight Holder Mold?
The Big Flower Tealight Holder Mold from THE CRAFT STATION MOLDS is a food-grade platinum silicone mould shaped like a large, open-petalled flower — designed to cast decorative tealight candle holders from epoxy resin, soy wax, concrete, or plaster. The finished piece features a central depression sized to hold a standard store-bought tealight candle (38mm diameter), surrounded by layered petals that catch and diffuse candlelight beautifully.
Whether you're crafting resin tealight holders for Diwali gifting, rustic soy wax flower décor for weddings, or concrete plant-style pieces for boho interiors, this mold delivers crisp petal definition and easy, residue-free release with every pour — backed by 100+ uses from premium platinum silicone.
Compatible Materials
The Big Flower Tealight Holder Mold is compatible with a wide range of casting materials:
- Epoxy Resin 3:1 (Part A : Part B by volume) — cure 24–48 hours; ideal for translucent, coloured, or geode-effect tealight holders; pour in two layers for deep pours to prevent exotherm
- UV Resin — for thin or accent layers; cure 2–5 minutes per layer under a 36W+ UV lamp; max depth 3–4mm per layer
- Soy Wax — pour at 50–55°C; for decorative wax flower pieces; place a tealight wick or cup in the centre before the wax sets for a functional wax holder
- Paraffin Wax — pour at 60–65°C; for pillar-style flower candles
- Concrete / Plaster of Paris — vibrate to remove bubbles; demold when firm; ideal for bohemian outdoor or plant shelf décor
- Cold-Process Soap — no mold release required on platinum silicone; demold after 24–48 hours; 4–6 week cure period

How to Cast a Resin Flower Tealight Holder – Step-by-Step
- Prepare the mold — Place the flower mold on a flat, level surface. No mold release spray needed for platinum silicone. Lightly coat with mold release for extra-easy release on your first use.
- Mix resin — Combine epoxy at 3:1 ratio (Part A : Part B by volume), stirring slowly for 3–4 minutes. Add translucent tint, mica powder, or alcohol ink. Try blush pink + gold for a bridal look, or deep purple + holographic glitter for a Diwali statement piece.
- Pour in layers — Fill the mold halfway. Allow 12–18 hours to firm up, then pour the second half. This prevents exotherm in the deeper petal sections.
- Add inclusions — At the partial-gel stage of the second layer (20–40 minutes), embed dried flower petals or gold foil using tweezers for a botanical effect.
- Cure — Allow 24–48 hours at room temperature. Cover to prevent dust settling on the wet surface.
- Demold — Flex the silicone mold gently from all sides and lift out the flower piece. The platinum silicone releases cleanly with zero residue.
- Place tealight — Set a standard store-bought tealight candle (38mm metal cup, widely available) in the central depression. Light and display.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this mold for making a tealight holder or a candle?
It makes a decorative tealight holder — a flower-shaped piece with a central cavity in which you place a standard store-bought tealight candle. The resin or wax flower surrounds the tealight, diffusing its glow through the translucent or coloured material. You can also use it to make solid wax flower candles without the tealight cavity, depending on how you configure your pour.
Is epoxy resin safe near a candle flame?
Yes, when used as a tealight holder. The tealight flame is fully contained within its metal cup. The resin flower simply holds the cup; it never contacts the flame directly. Keep tealight wicks trimmed to 6–8mm and never leave candles unattended.
Do I need mold release spray?
No. Food-grade platinum silicone releases epoxy resin cleanly without spray. For concrete or plaster, a light coat of petroleum jelly helps release. Soy wax also releases easily without spray.
Can I embed dried flowers in the resin holder?
Yes — this creates a beautiful botanical tealight holder. Use the partial-gel technique: pour a base layer, wait 20–40 minutes until thick, position dried petals or pressed flowers from our Dry Flowers collection with tweezers, then pour an encapsulation layer. The flowers appear suspended inside the translucent flower petals.
What size tealight fits in the central cavity?
Standard store-bought tealights (38mm diameter metal cups) fit in the central depression. These are widely available at supermarkets and candle supply shops across India.
Can I use this mold for workshops?
Yes — resin tealight holders are one of the most popular workshop projects. Each person creates a finished, usable piece in a single session. Contact us on WhatsApp for bulk mold pricing and workshop kit pricing.
